Dania Beach, Florida: Claire, Jeanine Satin, 2025. Softcover. Signed by the book artist. A striking unique new work from noted book artist Claire Jeanine Satin. Claire is a well known book artist, sculptor and designer of public art installations. Satin's work has been extensively exhibited and collected in the United States and in Europe, including at The Library of Congress, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, The Getty (CA), MOMA, and The Victoria and Albert Museum. She is known especially for her conceptual works in uenced by the ideas of her friend and mentor the composer/visual artist John Cage, and the conversion of ordinary industrial materials into environmental constructions and book works of layered transparent mass.
The serious subject of this title is conveyed by the words Claire chose, including aberration,homophobia, criminalize, prejudice, hostility, lgbtq, tolerance, violence, and resistance. But Claire also chose to frame such words in a sprightly pink book with colorful glossy strips of paper either with the words printed on them or else framing them on the pages they appear. Claire states that this Is a book that largely honors and even celebrates the LGBTQ ORGANIZATION and its fight for recognition and fairness as true American citizens. Most of the texts reflect that sentiment. However there are only a couple of words that exemplify tbe opposite viewpoint. The materials are sparkled multicolored vinyl with miniature gold letters attached. Therer are small shiny beads along the spin with curly red threads attached. It is housed in a black mesh bag.
