Revolutionary Tea

Tempe, AZ: Rarehare Creations, 2005. Number 4 of 6 copies. Pam Wood writes of this inventive book done by her: On the eve of W's re-election I was so mad. By the inauguration I came up with this book. The first two copies went to the Crane Paper Museum, which had sponsored a show of how money could be used in art. Fitting because Crane makes the US currency paper. She states: "This is one of my most political statements but still a favorite." The book holds a tea bag holding handmade shredded US currency paper - copies of the Declaration of Independence. The tea bag is made of fabric sizing material and silver thread. The cream colored paper folder holding the tea bag has the title on its front and the words "Brewing Revolution for Over 200 Years" printed on its rear. The folder is closed by fitting a tab into a slot. This measures 2.95 x 3.15 inches. It is housed in a green paper case with the same structure of fitting a tab into a slot. The title and book artist name are handwritten on the back along with the copy number. In fine condition.

Academically trained in fine art, Pamela received a BFA in Printmaking from Kent State University and did post-graduate studies in graphic design at Cleveland Institute of Art. Pamela works primarily in paper and book arts and continues to exhibit her one-of-a-kind books at various art centers and museums, both nationally and internationally. Many of her artist's books have been acquired by different local, national, and international libraries and museums for their permanent collections. Pamela has studied at The American Academy of Bookbinding and with numerous master binders, including Helene Jolis, Don Glaister, and Monique Lallier. She produces fine bindings and artist’s books full time in her Tempe, AZ studio, Rarehare Creations. ARTB/072925.
