2009. This is a unique altered work by book artist Lisa Kokin. She is a noted visual artist and book artist who also creates art with sewing and alterations, as well as with button work and assemblage. She also is known for acting as a mentor and coach to people in the arts. Her work is in collections across the U.S.

This is another exuberant and amusing work by Kokin. It is an unexpected creation that uses an assemblage of threads to cover a large cloth covered flask like book with a wooden spool as the cap. Lisa altered the title of the original book to read The Punning Thread for this piece. She stitched front to back, top to bottom, knotting all the way. She used knotted waxed linen to create the intricate designs covering the book. Measures 11.25 x 7.5 x12 inches. ARTB/041825. Fine.
