The Mother Goose; Containing All the Melodies the Old Lady Ever Wrote OR Uncle George's Mother Goose
New York: Leavitt & Allen, circa 1850. Hardcover. The editor notes in the preface that he owns all of Mother Goose's original manuscripts with her latest corrections and this edition includes it all - "real, original, and uncorrupted." He also notes that the embellishments "are from the sketches of an artist who was a contemporary of Mother Goose, and they were presented to her by him shortly before her lamented death. I found them in a portfolio in the drawer of a very ancient black walnut bureau, preserved in the family as a relic. Of course they have never before been published" (preface).
