Boston: Merrymount Press, 1914. Hardcover. In an introductory note the author writes that he was interested in John Baskerville and collected his imprints. He was invited to read a paper on Baskerville to the Boston Society of Printers. That paper formed the basis for this book on Baskerville's life and achievements. Bound in green paper covered boards with black linen spine. The paper covers are chipped, bumped and soiled. The interior pages are somewhat rippled from a tight binding. Pages are generally clean with a light spot or so on a few pages. Offsetting on the title page from the frontis portrait of Baskerville. Includes a facsimile letter and an image of a hand-press like that he would have used. Following the text is a list of Benton's collection of Baskerville editions and an index. About very good. Small quarto. 78 pages. BOB/112222. Very Good.
