Item #35392 Matrix 24. Whittington Press.

Matrix 24

Risbury, England: Whittington Press, 2004. Hardcover. Number 9 of 80 copies of the deluxe edition. There were 800 total copies printed including 720 copies of the regular edition. This is one of the special copies of the annual publication of Matrix, one of the foremost publications on the book arts during its 36 year existence. Sadly, Matrix 36, published in 2020, was the last annual edition of the Matrix series. After 36 years, Whittington Press owners, John and Rose Randle, decided to discontinue producing this fine annual on the book arts for printers and bibliophiles that compiled articles, illustrations, paper and typography samples and book reviews. This issue includes a number of articles by such well-known bibliophiles and book artists as Roderick Cave, Charles Hobson, Barbara Henry, Jerry Kelly, Stan Nelson, and John Randle. Interspersed throughout are photographs, printing samples, and illustrations. Inserted in a back pocket is the prospectus for this volume and an announcement for Matrix 25. Quarter bound in green Oasis leather with green and yellow marbled boards. Letterpress printed in Caslon, Poliphilus, and Neo-Didot types on Somerville Laid, Zerkall, and Hahnemühle papers. The deluxe copy includes a separate yellow paper covered booklet titled Typefounder at the Old Bailey by Justin Howes. Both volume and folder are housed in a mauve stiff board folder. In fine condition. Volumes measure 8 x 11 inches. BOB/102621. Fine.
