1850. Hardcover. Very good in the original dark brown publisher's cloth with gilt title to spine and gilt emblem to front cover. Chipping to book cloth along the spine ends and hinges. There is a three inch split to the book cloth along the front hinge and a five inch split along the rear hinge. The boards remain securly attached despite the damage to the book cloth. Minor wear to corners and edges of boards. With numerous illustrations including a fold out map of New York, a fold out View of New York (1792), a fold out plan of New York (1763), two fold outs of the Crofton Aqueduct, a fold out map of public parks and places in NY (1838), and more. A few of the fold outs have closed tears. Dampstaining to the bottom of the front cover; however, the interior seems to be unaffected. Browning to top margin of several pages and occasional spots of foxing. Previous owner inscription in pen to front free endpaper. 552 pages. NY/022118. Very Good.
