Philadelphia: G.M. Hopkins, 1877. Hardcover. An early, uncommon atlas of Baltimore County, Maryland with many color maps of the region. Engravings by Walter S. MacCormac. Each map lists the landowners, and many also list the local businesses and business owners. Includes a table of distances in the county, population charts for Baltimore County, Maryland, and the USA (based on census data), a patron's directory, several pages of "views" around the County, and a page describing the history.
Disbound with boards detached, but present. The boards are covered in black cloth with gilt title to the front board. Dampstaining and heavy wear to boards. Nearly all of the maps have become detached from the stubs they were originally bound on. One folio (4 pages) is missing - pages 23 - 26, which included the Third District, Mount Washington, Cllifton, and Woodberry. Includes maps to rear of Baltimore City, Maryland, both hemispheres, and the United States. Chipping to edges / margins of many maps, occasional spots of soiling, dampstaining to bottom edges of many pages and boards, and browning to several pages. Several of the maps have split along their fold lines, but most remain intact. Despite the noted condition issues, this is an excellent reference and can still be utilized if handled with care. 85 pages. MD/122723. Good. More
