The photographer and book creator, Lyle Rosbotham, describes this book as "A visual and textual journey representing an extinction event in progress. Photographs of energetic plants, highway overpasses, fossils, monuments, and dioramas in the Museum of Natural History combine to convey a vision of our potential future." This work was one of two by Rosbotham that were partially funded by a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship Grant. The book was created with a combination of conventional paper, translucent paper, and gray paper. There are also pages with images on plastic pages. The book's colophon notes the number of participants involved in creating this interesting book.
