With recipes for everything from soup to frozen dainties and food for invalids. Each recipe includes the name of the woman who submitted it. As interesting are the many pages of advertisements for local products and services. Stapled softcover volume with heavily soiled and stained front cover and missing rear cover. Front cover has an image of the proposed hospital. Interior pages generally very good with a few slight edge tears and soiling. Carbondale, PA: C.R. Munn, 1900. Hardcover. Second edition, revised and augmented. A scarce turn-of-the-century regional cookbook with recipes submitted by the many young lady workers from the church. The recipes range from the proverbial soup to nuts and the names of the women who submitted them are given. Equally interesting are the many handwritten recipes on the pastedowns, endpapers, and within the cookbook. There are also many handwritten recipes on various types of paper that are inserted. Most of them are for baked goods and sweets. There are two ownership signatures on the front pastedown dated 1903 and 1907. The book is bound in unlabeled black paper covered boards that have odd remnants of paper and string attached. The interior of the book is in generally very good condition. The hinges are weak but holding, and the free endpapers are torn. The text pages are very good with a few small scattered marks. Measures 5 x 7.5 inches.107 pages. COOK/081519. Very Good -.
Norwood, NJ: [c. 1950s-60s]. Softcover. The wine list from the Moby Dick restaurant in Norwood, NJ. Not dated, but from the prices per bottle, $3.50-$8.50, it was several decades ago. Bound in black and gold leatherette with illustration of a whale attacking whaling boats on the front cover. List is three pages. Very good condition. EPHEM/113017. Very Good.

Oblong in white silk covered boards with gilt title and color illustration to front cover. Light soiling to covers, but clean overall. Clean interior with many photographic illustrations, most in black and white. Text in French and English. In original clean acetate jacket with minor wear to edges including a few chips. An uncommon book comprised of three works: The House Its Plan, Decoration and Care by Bevier: Household Hygiene by Elliott; and Household Management by Terrill. The three authors were all university or college teachers. The handbook offers a fascinating look at housekeeping techniques and beliefs in the early 20th century. Each work is paginated separately. The topics range from an historical overview of housing to housing care and cleanliness, to the keeping of household accounts and managing expenditures. With illustrations, graphs, and tables throughout. Boundin yellow cloth with title in black to front cover and spine. Binding is bumped and somewhat soiled but still very good.
