circa 1940. Uncommon. Includes 22 samples, numbered 601 - 622, of paper backed printed cloth for covering fusuma (Japanese doors). Bound in tan, black, and red cloth covered boards with ribbon binding. Japanese title to front cover. Minor browning and wear to boards and edges. The interior is clean overall with foxing to some pages and browning to edges. Creasing to some corners. Diagrams showing the proper layout for how the paper should be adhered to the doors are bound in facing several of the samples. Each sample features a printed design - many abstract, some floral, some with vessels, etc. Size: about 13.5 x 12 inches.

London: Whittaker and Co, 1834. Hardcover. John Aiken (1793 - 1833) was the editor of "Constable's Miscellany", "The Cabinet", and several other periodicals. He died very suddenly at a young age and this volume was put together in his memory by the contributors of his periodicals. It includes a breif biography of Aitken and over 30 liteary pieces. The contributors include: C. Torrop, G.P.R. James, William Tennet, W. M. Hetherington, W.C. Taylor, John Malcolm, Henry Inglis, George Moir, James Gardner, Thomas Rosecoe, Robert Chambers, John Macray, Henry Stebbing, William Wilson, John M'Diarmid, Thomas Aitkinson, and Henry G. Bell. Very good in black leather boards with gilt title to spine. Raised bands to spine and bllind stamped rules to boards and spine. There is a two inch crack to fhe front hinge, rubbing to the boards, and wear to the corners and edges. The endpages are purple with a few small dampstains. There are a few small spots of foxing throughout, but overall the interior is clean. Antiquated ownership signature of Ellen Nicole Liverpool to front free endpage. Full edges gilt. A nice 19th century collection of poetry and short stories. 444 pages. Very Good.
