French astronomer Nicolas Camille Flammarion (1842 - 1925) was a prolific author, writing books on popular science, early science fiction novels, and astronomy. Illustrated with 8 full page plates and numerous in text illustrations. Very good in three quarter tan leather over marbled paper covered boards with black and gilt title label to spine. Wear to corners, edges of boards, spine ends, and hinges. Minor rubbing to boards and minor cracks to leather along spine. Foxing and browning to interior. 773 pages. SCI/042915. Very Good.

He moved to the U.S. in 1944 and taught at several schools including Princeton University. Bound in black cloth boards with white title to spine. Offsetting to front endpages, else clean. Bound in light tan wrappers w/light soiling and fading, lengthwise crease along center of pamphlet. Bound w/string, a few small chips to spine. Appears to be signed by Gladstone, both on the front cover and title-page, where it is written "With J. H. Gladstone's kind regards" in an antiquated script. In original brown wrappers w/chipping and darkening to edges, large portion of front panel's top-edge is lacking. Some darkening and soiling to wrappers as well, remnants of a wax seal to cover as well which is partially obscuring one word in the title. Light chips along spine; width-wise crease along middle of pamphlet. Interior text is bright, mostly clean though corners are darkened. Light chipping to edges of pages as well.
