[It] is one of the most outstanding of its kind because of the number and variety of the objects it contains. There are more than three thousand one hundred works made of gold, silver, or precious stones, of almost every kind of semi-precious stones, of ivory, amber, ceramics, mother of pearl, of coconut or ostrich eggs, of enamel, bronze, iron, wood or glass." Founded in 1721, the museum is located in Dresden, Germany. It was bombed during WWII, but has been completely restored. This book details the earliest arrangement of the collection, the establishment of the museum, the history of the Green Vaults after 1733, works of art included within, bibliography, notes, and many photographic illustrations in color and black and white.

Quarto. Very good in good. dust jacket. Cream cloth boards with green title to spine. Minor foxing and browning to edges of boards and spine. Toning to interior edges with occasional spots of foxing and soiling, but clean overall. Front right endpaper has top right corner cut away (2 X 6). Illustrated full color dust jacket with white spine panel titled in dark green. Jacket is a bit frayed along top edge and spine extremities, and plastic surface has peeled away in two areas on top portion of rear cover. Jacket is now encased in a removable plastic cover. 114 pages of text plus 144 pages of plates. ARTHIS01/010600.
