This is a beautiful edition of an interesting work, which was originally published in 1957 by Les Editions de Minuit in Paris, France and published again in 1959 in English by Grove Press. The novel was originally published as a key work of. the Nouveau Roman (New Novel) movement and explores a husband's obsessive jealousy of his wife and a neighbor. In the introduction Dr. Carmody writes that "Alain Robbe-Gillet is a distinguished representative of a style or genre commonly called 'la nouvelle vague' and Jealousy is in my mind the most effective of his novels." Bound by The Allen Press in all-rag light gray covers with black designs on the covers. The type face of the text is Univers, set by hand; the display type is Garamont [Garamond]. The all-rag paper was made by hand at tje Wookey Hole Mill in England and bears the watermark of The Allen Press. It was printed damp on an 1846 model Columbian handpress. In fine condition. Measures 9 x 11.5 x .5 inches. Unpaginated. PRI/080126. Fine.
