He was a key figure of the Spanish Gold Age of Baroque literature. de Vega's life was filled with love affairs and scandals which led him to be exiled at one point. After losing many loved ones and narrowly escaping an assassination attempt, he became a priest and later a knight.

This book is a fine press edition of his sonnets in Italian. The sonnets address love including the romance of Anthony and Cleopatra, death, music, women, and more.

Bound in white paper covered hard boards with paper title labels to spine and front cover. Letterpress printed in Bodoni type on Ingres Fabriano paper. Unopened pages. A few spots of foxing to the fore-edge of the textblock, else clean and bright interior. In off-white dust jacket with black title to spine and front panels. Large closed tear to rear panel of jacket and light, small spots of soiling - possibly foxing. IN ITALIAN. 151 pages plus index. PRI/122022.
