O'Neill & Ormond: A Chapter in Irish History

Baltimore: The Norman, Remington Company, 1914. Hardcover. This book covers the history of Ireland from 1641-1653, a turbulent period that included the rising of 1641, the Confederation of Kilkenny, and the Cromwellian Conquest of Ireland. It is told through the histories of Owen Roe O'Neill, an Irish patriot, and James, Earl of Ormond, the English governor of Ireland. O'Neill's quest ended in death when the cause for which he was fighting failed. Ormond, on the other hand, was triumphant and was raised to the rank of Duke. This is a scarce title, especially in the US. Octavo. In olive-green cloth spine over brown cloth covered boards with gilt title to spine. Minor discoloration to spine and minor wear to covers including corners. Pages show toning, but are very clean. Front hinge is starting, but boards remain firmly attached. 246 pages, including index. IREHIST/081522. Very Good.
