The Present Peerages: With Plates of Arms, and an Introduction to Heraldry; Together with Several Useful Lists Incident to the Work
London: J. Dodsley, 1785. Quite scarce. This is a dense and comprehensive listing of the men holding each of the peerages of England, Scotland, and Ireland at the time of publication, along with a history of their lineage. In addition to detailed information about the peers and their families, there are 86 pages showing the coats of arms for each peerage. Supplemented with an index and directory. Bound in later burgundy three quarter leather with red cloth covers and gilt title reading simply "Heraldry" to spine. Signs of handling but nice. Interior pages have occasional foxing, spotting, and offsetting but generally clean and legible. Page edges are untrimmed. Library stamp for Frederick College on title page but no other signs of ex-library. Very good condition. Measures 6 x 10 inches. 428 pages. ENGHIS/030821.
