This elegant book describing the furniture of the ducal palace of Vila Vicosa, a municipality in the Evora region of Portugal, offers a fascinating and comprehensive history of the palace and its interiors. It was published through the foundation of the House of Braganaca, or the Brigatine dynasty, from which came kings, emperors, princes, and dukes of Portuguese origin that reigned in Europe and the Americas for hundreds of years. Bound in a beautiful brown full leather binding with rulings and titling to front cover, and titling and gilt ornaments to spine compartments. Original paper wrappers bound in. Leather has some bumping and rubbing but still very good. The interior text pages and the numerous full page black and white photographs. Interior is in near fine condition.With the bookplate of Elsie Bogarus Murphy affixed to front pastedown. Murphy was a well-known Charles Town WV philanthropist.
