Persia: circa 1550. This a hand written manuscript leaf from a Koran, Persia, middle of the 16th century, on paper. This leaf comes from a large-sized Koran of fourteen lines of black Nasta'liq script. All the leaves have elegant marginal devises recto and verso, some with absolutely wonderful sura headings. This is a most imposing example from the Islamic Holy Book dating from about 1553-1558. Measures approximately 12.875 x 8.75 inches. Archivally matted with both sides of leaf visible. #23719. Fine.
