He was also a journalist for The London Standard (Wikipedia). This novel is based on the true events described in the 17th century Memoirs of M. Le Compte De Bussy Rabutin who was known for his love affairs, participation in an orgy, exhile, and other scandals.

SCARCE. Very good in brick colored cloth covered boards with black title to front board and gilt title to spine. Black and gilt decoration to spine and black and red illustration to front board. Minor chipping to spine ends and 2 small open tears to cloth on spine. Minor rubbing and soiling to exterior. Wear to edges. Text is clean and bright with only sporadic browning to margins. 8vo. 302 pages + ads. Literature. LIT4/4162.
