1865. Hardcover. Full brown calf leather boards. Heavy chipping to leather on spine. Remnants of name in ink to front board, but not readable. Heavy rubbing to leather. Every page is filled with lists of items purchased and the cost noted. The lists are broken up by months and totals are then listed for each year. For example - in December of 1866 - Rent - $5; Paper and Marketing - .63cents; Baby Dress - 75 cents; Medicine - 50 cents; Yeast & Washing - 76 cents; May 27, 1865 - Board & Washing - $6.42; Medicine 59 cents; Cake - 10 cents; Strawberries & Sugar - 53 cents; Ice cream/ car ride & show - 85 cents; orange - 8 cents; cherries - 18 cents; Cutting Hair - 20 cents. The last few pages include more substantial items perhaps for setting up a household (mosquito net, kitchen curtain, dust pan, tea pot, kitchen stove, etc.) and one page of (hard to read) recipes. An interesting item. Unfortunately, no location or ownership name is provided. HAND/041620. Good.
