San Jose, CA: Prose and Letters Press, 2007. Paperback. Limited edition of 53 copies of which this is number 16 of the standard edition. Signed and numbered by artist. Included in the 53 are the deluxe edition numbered 1 - 13 and the standard edition numbered 14 - 53. Pages have been printed digitally on both sides of Zerkall book paper with archival inks. This book is based on the unique hand painted original with several notable differences including the size of the book, the background painting, font, text, and endpages. The following text: "Ground. Invoke divinity. Focus thought. Repeat a rhyme. Make magic." is added to the last page of this edition. Also, if unfolded, the reverse side reveals hidden words. It is bound in grey paper wrappers with white hand lettered title to spine and silver star to front panel. The end pages are sheer Japanese unryu "cloud dragon paper" with silver and gold flecks. The printed interior is bound accordion style with the words "Star Spell" printed in light blue across the twilight sky background of all pages. The familiar rhyme in the foreground reads: "Star light / star bright / first star / I see tonight / I wish I may / I wish I might / Have the wish / I wish tonight." A charming book about the secret and ordinary ways of magic by well known calligrapher, Cari Ferraro. In addition to her collection of unique artists' books and small limited editions, she has written several books detailing her calligraphy techniques. [16 pages.]. Fine.
