He began publishing poetry in 1830, and he continued publishing poetry. novels, travel literature, and criticism throughout his life. Émaux et Camées, initially published in 1852, is considered one of his best works. The 1852 edition contained 18 poems; a second expanded edition was published in 1872. This publication contains 46 poems. A limited edition of 100 non-commercial copies on paper by Hollande van Gelder Zonen; 400 commercial copies on the same paper; and 5 copies on Japan for the publishers. This is copy 155 of 400.
