Baltimore: Baltimore Type and Composition Corporation, n.d. circa 1950s. Scarce. A catalog of types available from the Baltimore Type and Composition Corporation from sometime in the 1950s. Each typeface is displayed by printing the same paragraph. Monotype is the predominant section in the catalog, but there are also sections for linotype, versatype and filmotype. The latter type faces of filmotype first became available in the 1950s. In a bright orange plastic catalog with title in black to spine and front cover. Covers are soiled, cracked and a piece is missing from the lower front border. Rear cover is detached but present. Interior pages are in very good condition. About 220 pages. BOB/040520. Very Good -.

London: Raithby, Lawrence & Co., Ltd, 1901. Hardcover. Bound in maroon cloth covered boards with maroon leather spine titled in gilt. The leather on the spine is split along the front hinge and there is a large chip to the spine leather. The boards remains attached; although, the front board is a little loose. Ex-library with library stamps to fore edge and copyright page. Clean interior filled with samples of color printing and many articles. Browning and foxing to margins of most pages. Occasional smudge marks. Previous owner signature dated 1902 to front free endpaper. Full marbled edges and endpapers. An attractive interior and an interesting publication. 320 pages plus 72 pages of ads to rear. ART/090220. Very Good.
New Haven: William Edwin Rudge, 1940. Softcover. The first four issues of this still fascinating journal that covered all aspects of the graphic arts. Each issue has a number of articles sometimes interspersed with printing examples and ephemera. Each issue has a different cover design. A couple of the covers have light fading but still very good. Interiors are very good or better. The issues were in a cardboard chemise and housed in a slip case. The chemise is in pieces and the slipcase is faded and soiled. Issues measure 8 x 10 inches. Spine darkened with light rubbing to boards though corners are sharp. Interior is bright and clean. No pagination because the signatures were made by various presses at various times, thus several different kinds of paper, type, and illustration; some pages are unopened. London: Whittaker and Co, 1834. Hardcover. John Aiken (1793 - 1833) was the editor of "Constable's Miscellany", "The Cabinet", and several other periodicals. He died very suddenly at a young age and this volume was put together in his memory by the contributors of his periodicals. It includes a breif biography of Aitken and over 30 liteary pieces. The contributors include: C. Torrop, G.P.R. James, William Tennet, W. M. Hetherington, W.C. Taylor, John Malcolm, Henry Inglis, George Moir, James Gardner, Thomas Rosecoe, Robert Chambers, John Macray, Henry Stebbing, William Wilson, John M'Diarmid, Thomas Aitkinson, and Henry G. Bell. Very good in black leather boards with gilt title to spine. Raised bands to spine and bllind stamped rules to boards and spine. There is a two inch crack to fhe front hinge, rubbing to the boards, and wear to the corners and edges. The endpages are purple with a few small dampstains. There are a few small spots of foxing throughout, but overall the interior is clean. Antiquated ownership signature of Ellen Nicole Liverpool to front free endpage. Full edges gilt. A nice 19th century collection of poetry and short stories. 444 pages. Very Good.
