An illustrated record of the foundation and growth of parishes, missions, and religious institutions in the San Antonio archdiocese, published to celebrate its diamond jubilee. It was the first published history of the Archdiocese since 1897. There are almost 200 separate articles from 150 contributors in loosely chronological order. With an alphabetical index of the contents at the beginning of the book. Bound in maroon patterned cloth with title to spine and front cover. Corners are bumped and there is a gash to a spine. Black and white illustrations throughout. With gift note in red ink to ffep. Very good condition. 8.5 x 11 inches. 304 pages. REL/011317. Very Good.
Philadelphia: Burns and Sieg, 1859. Hardcover. Full navy velvet boards with gold metal label "Prayer" to front cover. Gold metal edgeing to sides of both covers and functional clasp. Heavy wear and rubbing to velvet along hinges. A previous owner has repaired (amateurely) the hinges of and spine ends by hand-sewing the velvet along them. Minor wear / rust / oxidizing to metail edges. Rear board is splitting along hinge, but remains attached. Clean interior with previous ownership name in pencil to front. A cute, obviously cherished book, despite noted wear. Size: about 4.5 x 3 inches. 332 pages in Common Prayer / 114 pages in Psalms. REL/031819. Good.
