[Engravings]
n.p. n.p., n.d. (c.1860s-1870s). Hardcover. This is a mysterious but appealing collection of numerous engraved illustrations from Victorian periodicals and books. Each engraving is given a title, with some coming from Godey's Lady's Book with the date. Each engraving is protected by a tissue guard. Bound in three quarter brown leather over brown cloth covers. Leather is chipped and worn, particularly along the joints. Hinges are cracked but text block is firm. Covers have wear. Most of the illustrations are in nice condition, but many of the tissue guards have offsetting and occasional tears. Some of the versos of the engravings have large brown spots not affecting the images. There are a few pencil marks and notes also on the versos. Still an interesting compilation of the often sentimental art of the time. About very good. Measures 9 inches tall No pagination [about 200 pages].ART/120423. Very Good -. More
