The volumes are impressive collections of articles and illustrations of important figures, subjects such as bindings and heraldry, and much more. There are numerous illustrations throughout each volume, most in black and white but occasionally in color. Bound in quarter brown leather with raised bands to spine with green leather title and volume number labels in compartments. Bumping and some chipping. Marbled paper boards with some light scrapes and bumping. Volume I has some dampstains, some intermittent brown spots on a few pages. Volume III has tape repair to bottom corner of front board. "Cercles Malesherbes" on title page and a few other random pages. Bookplates of previous owners on front endpapers. Very good condition.
