A leaf from a medieval Antiphonal or Choir Missal Manuscript, of German origin, circa mid-sixteenth century, in Latin on fine vellum (11 x 7 inches). Script is in a Monastic gothic hand and the music consists of seven staves of four-lines each. Musical staves are in red ink with notes and text in black ink. Two larger initials are in a variety of colors. Contains the music for The Feast of St. Francis. Verso: seven lines of music consisting of four line staves with two larger initials. Condition of this leaf is Fine (F). The mat measures 16” x 12”.

This leaf is from a medieval manuscript Book of Hours, France, use is unknown, circa early fifteenth century, in Latin, on vellum (132x97mm.). There are twenty-two lines of Lettre Batard script written in brown ink, with twelve minor ilitials in highly embossed gold on an alternating rectangular ground of blue and red pen work. Verso: Twenty-two lines of Lettre Batard script written in brown ink, with thirteen minor initials in highly embossed gold on an alternating rectangular ground of blue and red pen work and interesting catch words on the bottom of the leaf.

A leaf from a Medieval manuscript Augustinian Breviary Italy, Use of Rome, in Latin, on very thin vellum, second half of the 15th century (133x98mm.). There are two columns of 28 lines written in brown ink in two sizes of a very small rounded Gothic Liturgical hand. Folio 1 through Folio 62 recto is the text of a ferial Psalter. Quire Four Folio Thirty-seven. Recto: 1 six-line initial "E" and 2 two-line initials "D"s. Verso: 1 two-line initial "O". There is some staining on the bottom margin not affecting the justification.

There are eighteen lines of hand-written Gothic script, in black ink with rubrics in red with four-line Divisional Initials in gold with pen work in red and blue ink. Numerous one-line and two-line initials in red and blue ink and ruled in red throughout. Verso: eighteen lines of hand-written Gothic script, in black ink with rubrics in red.

A leaf from an illuminated manuscript Book of Hours, use of Utrecht, in Latin and Dutch, the style of decorations and the litanies point to eastern Netherlands, probably Liege, mid fifteenth century (118 x 82 mm.). The manuscript evidently belongs to a convent of Augustinian nuns. St. Augustine leads the confessors in two litanies and the prayers for the dying are only used for female nuns.

This leaf is on paper, in sound condition with 17 lines to the pages written in naskhi script in blank ink, gold discs between verses, interlinear Persian translation in red ink, double interlinear gold rules, margins are ruled with gold and colors. The Sura Headings in naskhi in white ink with a dark navy background, illuminated circular devices in margins, three double pages of illuminations in color and gold. End leave inscribed "Found in Hunza Fort, December 1892, RH Twigg, Captain". There is evidence of devotional use, but is confined to the corners and there is slight browning on some edges, not affecting the text. An interesting leaf, of late Georgian origins and well worth collecting. A large and interesting fragment of a Koran with a remarkable provenance in that it was found in the Hunza Fort, in Kashmire by Captain RH Twigg of the 12th Regiment in December 1892.

This is an Arabic Handwritten fragment of a book containing religious commentary, approximately first half of the 19th century, fifteen lines written in a simple maghribi script in red and black inks on a laid paper (235 x 190). Throughout the text there are numerous gilded pointes and rosettes and other marginal ornamentals. Most likely this book was written in North Africa (Tunisia?).

A leaf from a fragment of an illuminated Mughal Koran, copied by Muhammad 'Arif al-Haravi. Known as "the second Yaqut", India, 18th century, on paper (225 x 140 mm.). There are fifteen lines of clear naskhi script to the page, interlinear gilt decoration throughout, gold discs between verses, margins rules in colors and gold, sura headings in red, catchwords, outer borders decorated with floral sprays in gold. Mohammad 'Arif was a naskh and thuluth scribe, who received the title Yaqut Raqamkhan from the Shah 'Alam I (AH 1119-24/AD 1707-12) (see M. Hadayat Husain (ed.) Ghulam Muhammad Dihlavi, The Tadhkira-l-Khushnavisan, Calcutta, 1910 p. 126). On the opening page, there is a library note stating that the manuscripts was bought and handed over to Hafiz 'Adb al-Rahman, the keeper of the library in the 15th Jumadi l, AH [11]33/14 March AD 1721.

This is a leaf from a fragment of an illuminated Koran, Otterman, circa late 1700 to early 1800’s, on high quality burnished paper (178 x 119 mm.). There are fifteen lines of text in a delicate but firm black naskhi script. With full vowels and diacritical signs, rules in gold, blue and red, gold rosettes, illuminated surah headings of white thuluth scripts and gold ground and marginal devices in polychrome atypical of that era. Verso: fifteen lines of black naskhi script. Condition of this leaf is Fine
