Glick, Carl and Hong Sheng-HwaSwords of Silence: Chinese Secret Societies - Past and Present
New York: Whittlesey House, 1947. Hard Cover. First Edition. Signed by the authors. Interesting book describing the efforts of Chinese secret societies to band together in the Revolution of 1911 to establish the Republic of China. It is inscribed by Glick to Kuen Dea and signed by Hong Sheng-Hwu. Laid in are two typed and signed letters. One letter, dated July 19, 1947, is written to Kuen Dea with friendly greetings and telling him of his forthcoming book, Swords of Silence. The envelope is also present. The other letter was from Dorothy L. Parker, an editor of Whittlesey House, informing him that the book was being sent under seperate cover. Dated September 25, 1947.Bound in orange cloth with red title to spine. Some fading and handling but otherwise in very good condition. Contents are generally clean with offsetting to ffep and a couple of interior pages. In its original pictorial dust jacket, with some chips and soiling but very good. 292 pages. CHINA/101811. Very Good in Very Good Dust Jacket.
