London: David Bogue, circa 1880. Hard Cover. Illustrated with etchings on steel by Birket Foster. Good in full red leather boards with gilt title and lavish gilt tooling to spine. Both boards feature ornate geometric gilt tooling with an obvious Eastern influence. Unfortunately, the front board is detached and there is a large chip to the head of the spine. The edges and corners of the boards and spine are worn and the gilt is rubbed in a few places. There are a few smudges to the interior. Nearly every page is illustrated. Marbled end pages and full gilt edges. At one time this was a beautiful book but now it is deeply in need of restoration. 39 pages. POE/090109. Good.
