She was a feminist who moved in major literary circles and was friends with such figures as Robert Browning, Henry James, Walter Pater, and H.G. Wells. This volume compiles essays she wrote on art and literature and the places where they were produced. Bound in the original dark green cloth with gilt title and author to spine. Binding is in very good condition with some bumpint to cornersand fraying to spine edges. Light cracking to hinges and middle signatures from opening flat. Interior pages show light browning from age. Ownership signature of English novelist Florence Montgomery, who was best known for her children's books. 260 pages plue 2 pages of ads. LIT/072209.
