The text of this beautifully produced book is a poignant and complex short story by Pulitzer Prize winning author Jane Smiley. It is illustrated with six striking hand-colored linoleum cuts by Nees. The book is housed in a plexiglass case with a red paper spine and a red ribbon and metal clasp. The front of the case has a red and black design. The book is black cloth with embossed title and author on front board. Handset in van Krimpen's Romulus type and printed on dampened Johannot paper. The book was designed by Allan Kornblum and printed on a Vandercook 219 by Jill MacKenzie and Julia Druskin. The binding and case were designed and produced by Jill Jevne. Unpaginated. PRI/011907.
