Book Details
UnknownA Children's Sampler. Selections from Famous Children's Books, Printed with Care & Solicitude By the Ladies of the Distaff Side, in the Year of Our Lord
The Distaff Staff, 1950. LIMITED EDITION. Hard Cover. 1 of 375 copies. As described in the introduction, the Distaff Side was a loosely-knit organization of women, the members of which came from printers, publishing houses, studios, and other places where devotees of the graphic arts might be found. Thus, this book was “assembled from the contributions of many printers, artists, engravers, paper houses and publishers” to be sold for charity. Includes “Why the Sea is Salt” by Thorne-Thomson, “Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog” by Twain, “the Epic of the Lion” by Hugo, and many more. A fine copy in yellow cloth boards with a red title to spine and front board. The interior is pristine. The stories are on varying kinds and colors of paper and printed in many different types. The book is housed in a near fine red slipcase with minor wear along the opening. Unpaginated. BOB/101504. Near Fine.
