  • ABAA Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America - The Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America is a prestigious organization of experienced book sellers who must apply and be voted in and agree to abide by the ABAA's Code of Ethics. The ABAA also sponsors the three largest antiquarian book fairs in the U.S. Visit their newly updated website to learn more about antiquarian books, browse books sold by their members, and find out more about upcoming events.

  • Americana Exchange - An excellent resource for bibliographic information, auction records, lists of upcoming auctions, books for sale, and more

  • APHA The American Printing History Association - This organization encourages the study of the history of printing and related arts and crafts, including calligraphy, typefounding, typography, papermaking, bookbinding, illustration, and publishing. They have an annual 3 day conference, a lecture series, and an ongoing oral history project. They issue the semi-annual scholarly journal Printing History and other special publications. Individual yearly US membership is $50 and includes 2 issues of Printing History, discounts on conference registration and special publications, and the opportunity to participate in organizational activities.

  • Baltimore Bibliophiles - a local group of book enthusiasts who meet  five times a year.

  • Book Arts Baltimore - a group of Baltimore-area institutions dedicated to supporting the book arts through exhibitions, courses, and programs from 2015 - 2017.

  • Bound and Lettered Magazine - a quarterly periodical dedicated to book arts and calligraphy.

  • The Codex Foundation - An organization dedicated to preserve and promote the art and craft of the book

  • The Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar - Provides an opportunity for leading specialists to share their expertise and experience with booksellers, librarians, and collectors in a comprehensive survey of the rare book market, both antiquarian and modern. This is an annual event held in August.

  • Ephemera Society of America - A non-profit organization created to encourage interest in ephemera and the history identified with it.

  • Fine Press Book Association - An organization formed by a group of individuals sharing common interests in the art of printing, the matching of worthwhile texts with significant images and artistic expression through the structure of a book. Its goal is to promote the appreciation of such books and encourage their production. These aims are pursued in a number of ways including enhanced dialogue between book printers, designers, and other in the book arts and the inspiration of the public at large. Annual US membership is $48 and includes 2 issues of the associations's journal, Parenthesis.

  • Guild of BookWorkers - Created to establish and maintain a feeling of kinship and mutual interest among workers in the several hand book crafts. Annual US membership is $95 and includes copies of the bimonthly newsletter, a copy of the annual journal, subscription to email list, opportunity to attend annual seminar, member discounts on GBW merchandise, access to the lending library of books and catalogs, and connection with other book workers.

  • ILAB International League of Antiquarian Booksellers

  • Illustration Magazine - an excellent, nicely printed English magazine celebrating the art of illustration.

  • IOBA Independent Online Booksellers Association

  • Lewis Carroll Society of North America - dedicated to furthering study of the life and works of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll). Annual US membership is $35 and includes 2 issues of the society's magazine the Knight Letter, member premium (limited edition hardcover books printed by the society during the membership year), an exclusive membership pin, and advance notice of upcoming events.

  • Movable Book Society - Provides a forum for collectors, artists, curators, book sellers, book producers, and others to share enthusiasm and exchange information about pop-up and movable books. Annual membership is $30 and includes 4 issues of the society's newsletter Movable Stationery. Conferences are held biennially.

  • Pyramid Atlantic – A non-profit center for book arts, papermaking, and printmaking. Located in Silver Spring, MD, this organization offers workshops, facility & press rental, and sponsors various events including a bi-yearly artists’ book fair.

  • Rare Book School at the University of Virginia - provides continuing education opportunities for students from all disciplines and levels to study the history of written, printed, and born-digital materials with leading scholars and professionals in the field. Classes in 2014 will be offered at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadephia, PA, Yale University in New Haven, CT, the Folger Shakespeare Library in DC, and the Morgan Library in New York City.

Members also have opportunities to participate in organizational activities  such as conferences, lectures, and tours of exhibitions.
