Large 4to., rebound in modern dark green smooth cloth, neatly rebacked original cloth cover and top 1/4 of spine which includes the complete gilt title and author. Bright gilt title to cover, as well as extensive, intricately detailed light green ink stamping. Interior is in lovely condition, clean w/bright text; light foxing is only to the frontispiece and its protective tissue (which is lightly wrinkled along bound edge). Early and late pages have very light edgewear and chipping, corners especially worn to late pages (some creasing). Many beautiful illustrations, fold-out architectural layout of the abbey in rear; decorative red ink letters to the beginnings of chapters. In beautiful condition, especially in light of its age.
