The Distaff Staff,
1950.
Cloth Boards.
LIMITED EDITION.
1 of 375 copies. As described in the introduction, the Distaff Side was a loosely-knit organization of women, the members of which came from printers, publishing houses, studios, and other places where devotees of the graphic arts might be found. Thus, this book was Òassembled from the contributions of many printers, artists, engravers, paper houses and publishersÓ to be sold for charity. Includes ÒWhy the Sea is SaltÓ by Thorne-Thomson, ÒJim Smiley and His Jumping FrogÓ by Twain, Òthe Epic of the LionÓ by Hugo, and many more. A fine copy in yellow cloth boards with a red title to spine and front board. The interior is pristine. The stories are on varying kinds and colors of paper and printed in many different types. The book is housed in a near fine red slipcase with minor wear along the opening. Unpaginated. BOB/101504.
